How often can I do Cryotherapy?

At Cryomend, we recommend beginning with 5-10 sessions spaced close together (everyday or every other day). We then advise that our clients maintain their treatments, either of 1-2 sessions per week or bi-weekly, to continue to experience the maximum benefits.

Will I be able to brave the cold?

For many, exposure to sub-zero temperatures creates some uneasiness, but in essence, it’s not as chilling as one would believe. Even those with a low tolerance for the cold report it’s within their comfort range.

Is nitrogen dangerous?

Although it may sound risky, 78% of the air we breathe contains nitrogen! While the cryotherapy chamber chills with liquid nitrogen, there is no direct contact with the gas.

Will I get claustrophobic during cryotherapy?

This is a natural consideration for many. However, it’s essential to note that your head remains entirely outside the chamber despite the practice referred to as ‘whole body’ cryotherapy. With your head positioned above the cryo-chamber, you will see the technician and your surroundings. Furthermore, motion is never restricted; you will be able to move your arms, legs, and entire body with ease!

How do subzero temperatures (immediately) affect the body?

During a cryotherapy session, your body’s ‘surface’ temperature drops to approximately 30℉. Because the body concentrates blood flow inward to protect internal organs, your core maintains its proper temperature. With treatment lasting only 2-3 minutes, time does not permit your core body temperature to plunge. However, this causes blood to rush to your vital organs, which is valuable.

Once you exit the cryo-chamber into a heated environment, your extremities fill with nutrient-rich, super-oxygenated blood, which is extraordinary for your health! Healing and recovery are in progress.

What do I wear?

Before your cryotherapy session, we require removing any metal piercings and jewelry worn below the neck. Any item unable to be detached is concealed according to protocol.

Both men and women must wear cotton underwear for protection. Any bra is acceptable without metal wire or clips of any kind. Naturally, women have the option to go topless if they choose. A towel is provided for privacy and can be removed once inside.

At Cryomend, we provide all protective wear for your treatment. More specifically, cozy wool gloves, socks, and slippers. We’ve got you covered!

How do I feel after the treatment?

The cryotherapy experience is quite personal – everybody is unique! Although, it is definitive that the body naturally releases endorphins with each session, creating a sense of euphoria, or what is often referred to by our athletes as a runner’s high. Other substantial effects include a sense of tranquility and calm.

Endorphins are the body’s natural prescription for pain and simultaneously generate profound feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. With muscles and joints becoming more flexible and relaxed, the pain diminishes, and one’s overall mood and sense of pleasure heighten.

Additionally, it’s prevalent to experience a full range of motion in both your muscles and joints post-treatment. Overall, your body, mind, and skin will feel rejuvenated!

What is the age requirement for whole body cryotherapy?

Treatments are typically appropriated for people over 18 years of age. For those under the age of 18 we do offer localized cryotherapy to assist with specific or isolated injuries ranging from shoulders, knees, back, hips and more. We encourage you to connect with us, as each case is truly unique!

Does my menstrual cycle compromise my cryotherapy session?

Cryotherapy is safe during your menstrual cycle. Furthermore, It boosts both your mood and intensifies your level of energy. Good to know!

I have metal or implants in my body, can I still do cryotherapy without harm?

Absolutely. Many of our clients at Cryomend have breast augmentation, hip, or knee replacements and have metal plates.

The practice of cryotherapy only chills the skin a few millimeters deep; your tissue will never freeze, and as mentioned, your actual core body temperature never decreases.
